  4. Submit your application, approval is usually fast for existing CRED users.

Once approved, the card will be linked to your CRED account, allowing you to earn points automatically on eligible spends.

How Rewards Work on Cred Sovereign RuPay Credit Card

Online purchases outside the CRED app earn 5 CRED Points per ₹100, while transactions within CRED,  like using CRED Pay, booking flights via Ixigo, or hotels via Expedia, also earn 5 points per ₹100. For offline payments and UPI Scan & Pay transactions, the card earns 1 point per ₹100.

Every point is equivalent to a rupee when redeemed for flights, hotels, or products on the CRED store. Bill payments through the CRED app, however, give a lower value of 1 point = ₹0.5. Points are automatically applied wherever relevant within the ecosystem, so you don’t need to manually redeem them in most cases.

Value of CRED Points

It’s also worth clarifying a common confusion: CRED Points are different from CRED Coins.

CRED Points can be redeemed for bill payment, flights, hotels, products on the CRED store, or select CRED Pay merchants.

Cashback on online payment

  • Online Purchases (Outside the CRED App): Earn 5 CRED Points for every ₹100 spent.
  • Transactions Within the CRED Ecosystem: CRED Pay, Ixigo (for flights), Expedia (for hotels): Earn 5 CRED Points per ₹100 spent.

1 cashback on UPI

  • Offline Payments & UPI Scan & Pay: Earn 1 CRED Point per ₹100 spent.
  • For flights, hotels, or products on the CRED store: 1 point = ₹1 when redeemed.
  • For bill payments through the CRED app: 1 point = ₹0.5 (lower redemption value).

Cred points breakdown:

  • General value: 1 point = 1 rupee
  • Bill payment value: 1 point = 0.5 rupee
  • Validity: 24 months from earning
  • Usage: Only at select Cred Pay merchants

So if you have 2000 Cred points, you can get full 2000 rupees value when shopping at partner merchants, but only 1000 rupees discount when paying bills through Cred.

Caps and Limitations

While the rewards look promising, there are a few caps and limitations to note. The maximum accelerated rewards for online or CRED ecosystem spends are 5,000 points per billing cycle, and for UPI Scan & Pay, the cap is 500 points per cycle.

Points remain valid for 24 months. The card does not earn rewards on certain spends, including school or education fees, government institutions, wallet loads, rent, jewellery, fuel, quasi cash or cash withdrawals, and utilities or insurance outside the CRED app.

Example: How Cred Cashback is Calculated

To put it in perspective, consider a monthly spending scenario:

  • ₹10,000 on CRED Pay, flights, or hotels → 5% rewards = 500 points
  • ₹10,000 on online shopping outside CRED → 5% rewards = 500 points
  • ₹10,000 on offline or UPI Scan & Pay → 1% rewards = 100 points

In total, you would earn 1,100 points for that month. This assumes you stay within the points cap for each category. These points can then be redeemed across flights, hotels, and the CRED store, giving you a practical way to convert everyday spending into value.

Who Should Consider This Card?

This card is most suitable for users who frequently use CRED for various kinds of payment. If you make bill payments, travel bookings, or online purchases via CRED, this card can be useful for you. On the other hand, if your spending is mostly outside CRED, or you prefer direct cashback, this card may feel restrictive since rewards are largely locked to the CRED platform.
