SuperCard vs SuperCard Pro
Let’s talk about two popular RuPay cards, Supercard and Supercard Pro. If you have been using the Super.money UPI app by Flipkart, you might already know about these cards.
When Super.money first launched Supercard, it partnered with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank. Later, it introduced Supercard Pro, a premium card, in collaboration with Axis Bank.
I have two Super.money accounts linked to different phone numbers. On my first account, I had mistakenly clicked “Apply” for the Supercard (Not the “Pro” one) when it was first introduced. Since then, there has been no option to go back or switch to Supercard Pro.
On my second account, though, I can see a pre-approved offer for Supercard Pro from Axis Bank, which doesn’t require any FD.
Now, there can be two possible scenarios.
If you are not able to get the Supercard Pro offer in your Super.money app, you might only see the option to apply for Supercard. In that case, you may apply for it, because it also comes with flat 1% cashback on UPI payments with other benefits.
But the main question is, is it really rewarding enough? So, in the next section, we’ll take a simple yet detailed look at both cards side by side to understand how they differ and which one actually offers better value.
Supercard vs Supercard Pro
The Utkarsh Supercard is an FD-backed secured card, meaning you need to make a fixed deposit to get it. The Supercard Pro, on the other hand, is an unsecured card for users who already have a good credit score. It’s issued by Axis Bank.
Cashback Comparison
The Utkarsh Supercard started with a big promise, “up to 5% cashback” on UPI spends. That was the reason many people got it in the first place. But now it gives flat 1% cashback on UPI and card transactions, and only for payments above ₹100.
The Supercard Pro offers 3% cashback on UPI payments (via the SuperMoney app) and 1% on other spends. But, there’s a cap of ₹500 per statement cycle with SuperCard Pro. However, if you use them for under ₹100 spends on UPI, you get nothing.
2. Hidden Costs
Both cards are technically “lifetime free.” The Utkarsh Supercard has no joining or annual fee, but there’s a ₹299 charge if you want a physical card. The Supercard Pro is genuinely lifetime free, no joining, no annual, no hidden “activation” costs. But, if you’re a heavy UPI user, hitting ₹500 cashback per month will happen quickly, after which you earn nothing extra.
Both cards push their “digital lifestyle” marketing, but neither is perfect.
3. Cashback and Spending Benefits
The Axis SuperCard Pro gives 3% cashback on UPI payments made through the SuperMoney app. That’s the biggest reason many people look at this card. But there’s a ₹500 per month cap. Outside UPI, it gives 1% cashback on other purchases, which is fair but not high.
The Utkarsh SuperCard follows a flatter structure. It gives 1% cashback on both UPI and non-UPI payments. However, you can earn higher cashback, 5% on Myntra, 3% on Cleartrip, and 2% on Flipkart with both cards.
Type of Card and Who It’s For
The Axis SuperMoney Credit Card is for those with a good credit score, and basic eligibility can apply. The Utkarsh SuperCard is FD-backed,which means anyone can get it.
| Feature | Supercard (FD-Backed) | Supercard Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Type | FD-backed, via Utkarsh Bank | Unsecured Credit Card (Axis Bank) |
| Joining / Annual Fee | Lifetime free | Lifetime free |
| UPI Cashback | 1% cashback (only on spends above ₹100) | 3% cashback via SuperMoney app (capped at ₹500/month) |
| Other Cashback | 1% on non-UPI spends; up to 5% on Myntra, 3% on Cleartrip, 2% on Flipkart | 1% cashback on other eligible spends |
| Monthly Cashback Cap | ₹500 for UPI spends | ₹500 per statement cycle |
How to Get Supercard Pro?
If you’ve already initiated the process to apply for the FD-based credit card in partnership with Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, you won’t be able to apply for this card via Super.money.
But if you haven’t applied yet, you can check your eligibility by downloading the Super.money app. If it shows that the card is issued by Axis Bank, that means your profile is linked to the Super Card Pro.
On the app screen, you’ll see an option that looks like this.
- Click Get SuperCard Pro
- Provide the required information
- Complete KYC process
- The card approval is very fast, as some users have reported getting the card approved on the same day.
- Alternatively, you can apply for this card directly on Axis Bank’s website.
